The White Stripes finish Canadian tour with bingo serenade
The shortest show ever
The American rock music duo ended their Canadian tour on July 16th. Well known for their antics, Jack and Meg White did not disappoint their fans; a bingo serenade and a single-note show on George Street were part of the offered entertainment.
Wackiness was already present Sunday night. Jack was spotted at a St. John’s bingo hall, where he spent a couple of hours gambling and entertaining patrons. Before leaving, he serenaded Irene, a woman with whom he shared the table, with the classic “Good Night Irene”.
On Monday, rumors on where the show would take place began to grow. Some mentioned the town of Bilbo, an hour drive from St. John. Others mentioned George Street, where the show finally took place 6pm.
As announced, it was literally a one-note show. The band got ready to play and hit the note F, which lasted for an entire second. "We've now officially played in every province and territory in Canada!" shouted Jack, who then jumped back to the van. The show was over, and so was the Canadian tour.
