The new sensation of the popularity charts in Great Britain is The Zimmers. But contrary to most rock bands, in this one there can be found plenty of white hair, fake teeth and titanium femur heads. Together they sum up more than 3,000 years, but that hasn’t stopped them from showing that they still have music and rebelliousness in their veins.
The initiative to create such a peculiar group came from Tim Samuels, a BBC journalist who, in his 31 years, has managed to get to the audience with stories on the most marginal groups. He decided to do an investigation on the four million elder of the country that live in nursery homes o are very lonely.
That’s how he came upon this group that whose members were very angry old men who were outraged because the bingo room of their neighborhood was being closed. That place was their only entertainment; there they used to spend most of their time, playing, sharing, and talking. That’s how the group was found.
