‘Bingosino’ to be opened in Massachusetts
Bingo slots and video slots, who can tell the difference?
The Mashpee Wampanoags’ tribe is planning to open a casino in Beacon Hill, Boston. If denied permission, they will open a ‘Bingosino’ instead.

‘Bingosinos’ are casinos that feature bingo slot machines instead of video slot machines. Those bingo slots are allowed even in Massachusetts, where regulations ban slots. The main reason: the wiring system in bingo slots is not the same as the one used in video slots.

The difference is that on bingo slots, players bet against each other and not against the house. Also, when starting a bingo slot, a bingo screen comes up for a little while, then it’s rapidly replaced by a regular screen of a video slot. But, complexities and details aside, technologies have made both types of machines hard to distinguish.

With gambling getting more and more popular everyday, the tribe insists that they will be able to build a gambling resort, even when that probably means using bingo slots. The Seminole tribe, in Florida, tried something similar and succeeded when their state still banned slots.
